Con 70 años de trayectoria -se dice rápido! – Y su condición ad eternum de novia del feeling, Portuondo repasará clásicos de la música cubana así como de su propio repertorio acompañada de un cantaor que, desde aquel legendario Lágrimas Negras compartido con Bebo Valdés (2003), lleva Cuba incrustada en el corazón. Having performed since she was 15 years old, Omara Portuondo’s career has touched on almost every Cuban style from Bolero to Jazz, to Son Cubana. But regardless of genre, it’s her unmistakable voice and perfect phrasing that shine through – a voice captured on the 1996 album and documentary Buena Vista Social Club. Performing alongside her is Diego el Cigala, a singer known for his extraordinary Flamenco voice but whose career has explored all aspects of Latin music including a collaboration with legendary Bebo Valdés – the two singers together forming an intense musical connection on stage. Having shared a stage for the first time last year, here they revisit highlights from Portuondo’s extensive career, from her days as a founding member of close-harmony vocal group Cuarteto d’Aida to her time as the Buena Vista Social Club’s leading lady. El Cigala provides new perspectives on this classic material, creating a unique fusion of Cuban and Flamenco musical styles.
